In episode 12 of the tvN drama “The Shrine Maiden and the Star” (viewership rating: 4.9%), Son-ah (Cho Yi-hyun) and Gyu-noo (Choi Young-woo) are shown regaining their happiness in their own way.
Bae Gyeon-woo asks Bon-soo (Choi Young-woo, playing a dual role) how he can meet the “real Son-ah.” However, even when he followed the instructions, Son-a did not appear, and Bongsu requested that he grant one wish. The wish was for Bae Gyeon-woo to die to save Son-a. Bongsu explained that if Bae Gyeon-woo could not leave Son-a's body, her soul vessel would shatter and become dangerous, prompting Bae Gyeon-woo to make up his mind. Moved by Bongsu' tears over not being able to leave Son-a's body, Bae Gyeon-woo entered Son-a's dream. Son-a immediately realized that it was Bae Gyeon-woo, not Bongsu, who had come to her dream. When Son-a asked, “How did you spend the years we couldn't meet?” Bae Gyeon-woo recalled the time he had spent searching for Son-a. Bae Gyeon-woo's heart ached at Son-a's consideration for avoiding him, fearing she might cause harm in reality or in dreams. He said, “I'm sorry for leaving you alone,” and shared a heartbreaking kiss. Finally, Bongsu left Son-a's body and was able to go to Bae Gyeon-woo.
Yom-fa (played by Chu Ja-hyun) also risked her life to correct her mistake. Upon learning of Yom-fa's reckless plan, Hwarang-ja (played by Yoon Byung-hee) headed to the abandoned house to stop her. However, Yom-fa and Bongsu sealed the door to prevent anyone from entering the abandoned house. The power of the evil god was too strong, and Hwarang fought desperately. Just as he was about to give up, Son-a appeared. Driven by her urgent desire to save Bae Gyeon-woo, the “Heavenly Goddess” returned, and her power reached Ton-chon-chang-gun (Kim Mi-gyeong), causing Son-a to upgrade into the “Ten Thousand Gods.” Son-a broke the seal of the evil god, entered the abandoned house, and faced Bongsu. At that moment, Bae Gyeon-woo comforted the young cadet soldier who had died alone in fear. And in that instant, Bongsu recalled the name “Jang Yoon-bo.” Bongsu left behind a farewell greeting to Son-a, who was shedding hot tears, saying, “Shaman, farewell. You too, farewell.” Having avenged his grievance, Bongsu departed this world.
Son-a and Bae Gyeon-woo, who had helped Bongsu find peace, returned to their daily lives. Bae Gyeon-woo secured a spot on the Korean archery team for the Olympics, while Son-a continued her life as a shaman who couldn't ignore the ghosts still crying.
