A woman in her 40s who wrote approximately 200 false posts claiming that actor Gong Yoo had monitored, hacked, and threatened her will face legal punishment.

Defendant A (48, female), who was indicted on suspicion of violating the law (defamation), was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years.
At around midnight on January 14, 2020, Defendant A accessed GongYoo's live stream on an internet portal site.
He also said, "I'm being blackmailed behind my back. Not a single day goes by without being blackmailed," and "They're tormenting me so much that I'm becoming neurotic," as if Gong Yoo was spying on Defendant A, blackmailing him, or harassing him.
In fact, Defendant A has no personal relationship with Gong Yoo, and has not been sexually assaulted or sexually harassed.
Despite not committing any illegal acts, the defendant defamed GongYoo with false posts. Defendant A posted false posts a total of 235 times until March 21, 2021.
The court stated, "Not only are the allegations unfounded, but false information has been continuously spread for a long period of time, and the victim, as a public figure, has been unable to gain public attention.
Even if he has no choice but to accept the punishment, the nature of his crime is extremely serious," he said. "Although he has been punished twice for similar crimes in the past, taking into consideration the fact that he admitted to the crime and promised to go to the hospital and receive treatment,
In relation to this, Gong Yoo's management office, Management SOOP, stated, "The perpetrator repeatedly posted false information on the internet site, seriously damaging the actor's reputation.
The court clearly recognized the maliciousness and seriousness of the crime and confirmed the guilty verdict. "We will take strong measures without any leniency or compromise, including in the ongoing case.
"We will continue to do so," he emphasized.
