Li Yi defended Cui Yi, and Pei Yuan also joined in, but Prime Minister Gu and others suspected that Li Yi and Cui Yi were conspiring together.
When Gari was killed and Ryu Seungbong was wounded, His Majesty concluded that all of these were the work of Choi Yi. In order to protect Choi Rim, Yi Yi declared her the sole Crown Princess.
This enraged His Majesty. Li Yi was ordered to bring Cui Yi back, and in the meantime, Gu Wanniang was appointed Li Yi's wife. Li Yi persuaded Cui Yi to go to Xi Changjing.
