The first direct flight is scheduled to depart Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport at 7 p.m. local time on the same day.
The Russian Ministry of Transport said, "Flights between Moscow and Pyongyang will be operated once a month in order to capture stable demand."
The Russian government applied for approval of a direct flight from Moscow to Pyongyang and was granted the approval on the 9th of this month. According to Russia's RIA Novosti news agency, the flight is a Boeing 777-200ER with a flight time of 10 hours.
The flight time is eight hours, the plane can accommodate up to 440 passengers, and ticket prices start from 44,700 rubles ($790).
Until now, direct flights between Russia and North Korea have traveled between Vladivostok and Pyongyang.
Meanwhile, Russia and North Korea have strengthened cooperation in the transport sector since signing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty last year.
On April 30, construction of the Tumen River Automobile Bridge connecting Russia and North Korea by land began.
Direct train services between Moscow and Pyongyang and Khabarovsk and Pyongyang, which had been suspended, have also resumed operations.
