2TVWed-ThuTV series "I Stole the Lead Role's First Experience" in which she played the role of "Lee Bon" and showed a strong emotional reaction.
He showed off his skills as a male lead in the romantic genre, and at the same time, he also elegantly portrayed the charm of the drama, especially the character of Lee Bon, who changes through the fast-paced events.
The TV series depicts the story of a supporting character in a romance novel, who is inhabited by the soul of an ordinary female college student, who spends a night with the protagonist, who is the most obsessive in the novel.
It's a "no break" romance fantasy that unfolds from spending time together. Below is Taecyeon's interview [Question and Answer]
Q. How do you feel after finishing the TV series "I Stole the Lead Role's First Experience"? A.
I feel relieved, but sad to leave. It was a project that I had a lot of affection for personally, even before filming began, and I worked with my co-stars and the staff for over six months,
I had a really good time throughout the filming. Above all, I feel very good to have finished the TV series. Q. Looking back at your filmography up to that point, you seem to have been good at various genres and genres.
Regardless of the character, there are some challenging choices to make, but what was the deciding factor in choosing this TV series? A.
When I received the offer to appear in the film, I read the script, but I read it very quickly.
Above all, the character I was going to play, Lee Bon, was cool and appealing, and after I finished reading the script, I became interested in the original work.
I searched for the web comic and it made me even more greedy. I thought I could try a new acting style in expressing the character of "Lee Bon" and I also thought that the viewers were very positive about it.
I decided to take on the challenge with the thought that it would be fun to see a new side of the actor, Goo Taecyeon. Q. It seems that Lee Bon is the male protagonist in the novel.
He portrayed a "fantasy man who doesn't exist in reality." It can be said that Lee Bon's appearance before and after meeting Cha Song-chaek is completely different.
There were some unexpected witticisms that came out of the character of "Yi Bon", so was there anything you paid the most attention to when playing the character?
A. While preparing for the character of Lee Bon, the part I personally paid the most attention to was how he was able to express his love.
It was a part that expressed the fact that even though he appears to be a man who moves forward in a straight line like a bulldozer when fighting, he is actually a fool who doesn't understand anything.
"Yi Bon" is a relative of the king and has excellent martial arts skills and a handsome appearance.
He is a typical male protagonist in a romance novel, but he has never been loved by anyone and has lived a lonely life as a self-proclaimed hound of the royal family.
In a world where she can't find anyone, she meets Cha Song-chaek, the only person who recognizes her sincerity, falls in love with him, and grows rapidly as a character.
Since the character was poorly acted, I tried to convey Lee Bon's emotions by paying a little attention to my gaze.
Q. Perhaps that is why, as the story progresses, the character Lee Bon seems to be more concerned with what he says than his cold-heartedness.
I felt that he was a character with an inner weight that allowed him to take responsibility for what he did. Was there a point in the play where you felt that Lee Bon was cooler? A.
I thought it was really cool that he had unwavering conviction. No matter what Cha Seong-chaek does, he responds with unwavering trust and love.
I found it fascinating how she expressed her feelings about sex and went straight ahead. Q. "I just got the greatest treasure," "I'm crazy about Cha Seong-chaek," "I don't know a girl who suits me."
Show me your abilities as the hero. I'll do whatever it takes to win," said Lee Bon, who had to endure the so-called embarrassment, and his lines entertained the audience and became the backbone of the drama.
Since he is a character who does not say much, I wondered how I could best convey Lee Bon's lines to convey his pure feelings towards Cha Sung-chaek.
I thought about it a lot. Is there anything you focused on and put effort into, such as adjusting your voice tone to suit the situation and how you delivered Lee Bon's lines? A.
The thing I was most worried about while playing the role of Lee Bon was that one line really sounds like something you would find in a romantic fantasy.
There were many expressions that I would never use in real life, but in the world of Lee Bon in "I Had a Man's Wedding Night," they really come from my heart.
Because it is a word and a way of expression, I wanted to convey it to the audience as honestly as possible without exaggerating. So when I was delivering the lines, I had a lot of discussions with the director about the small details, such as the look in my eyes and the tone of my voice.
Q. Is there a scene that you remember most from filming? A. This is just my personal opinion, but I think Lee Bon is coolest at the end.
That's why every time we filmed an ending scene, I was so excited and it was so memorable. I especially remember the ending scene in episode 6, where we jumped into the water to save Song Chaek.
However, since it was shot underwater, the staff and I had a hard time together, and when I saw the final broadcast, it was really romantic and beautifully expressed, and I felt good. Q.
I'm also curious about the degree of synchronization between Ok Taecyeon and Lee Bom. When you think about it, are there any similarities between you and Lee Bom? A.
I think it's hard to find similarities between the real Ok Taecyeon and Lee Bom. Lee Bom is always cold-hearted and intuitive, and doesn't hesitate to express himself spontaneously.
I don't know if I'm a good actor, but these parts are very different from me. Because they are so different, I had to think and worry a lot about how to express them. Q. You've worked on "The Royal Inspector" and the movie "Hansan"
After "The Appearance of the Dragon," you decided to try your hand at period dramas again. What do you feel is the appeal of period dramas from "I Stole the Lead Actor's First Experience"? A.
I think the genre of period dramas has the appeal of satisfying the imagination of many people. "I Stole the Lead Role's First Experience" is based on an original novel.
Because it is a work with a historical background, there were times when I clashed with my imagination when playing the character, but the nature of period dramas gives me the room to express it more flexibly and interestingly, which was very helpful in that respect as well.
Q. As soon as the TV series was released, it was ranked in the top ranks of major OTT sites not only in Korea but also overseas, achieving positive results. What kind of reaction did you get from overseas fans who loved the TV series?
Did you pay attention to their response? If you could say one word of thanks to your overseas fans? A. I was really happy to hear that overseas fans also loved and enjoyed the TV series so much.
Because it's a fantasy romance genre, I think it's easier for more people to enjoy it, regardless of nationality.
Thank you for watching and loving "I Stole the Lead Role's First Experience" until the end. Q. What kind of work is "I Stole the Lead Role's First Experience" for you, Ok Taecyeon?
A. Throughout the filming, the atmosphere on set was full of energy and it was a lot of fun. I was filming with long-time friends.
I hope that viewers can relax for a while while watching the TV series "I Stole the Lead Role's First Experience" without worry, anxiety, or stress.
I hope this TV series will be able to ease the burdens of your heart. Q. There must be many fans waiting for the release of the Japanese Netflix series "Seoul Mate."
Q. Is there a genre or character you want to try in the future? A. Rather than a specific character, I want to continue challenging myself with more three-dimensional and diverse characters.
I want to. In the past, I would turn down offers to play characters in military uniform because of my nickname "Captain Korea." But now, I can imagine myself in a military uniform filming a fighting scene.
It seems fun, and I'm also eager to try my hand at action. I think you'll be able to show a new side of yourself in the Japanese Netflix series "Seoul Mate," which you've just finished filming.
Q. It's already mid-July and half of 2025 has passed. I'm curious about your future plans and how you want to spend the rest of the year. A.
For the time being, I plan to take some time to recharge. I've been working nonstop between Korea and overseas since last year, but I need some time to catch my breath so I can keep going.
I think so. I'll take a good rest and come back to you in good spirits soon. Q. Lastly, I would like to thank the viewers for watching and loving the TV series "I Stole the Lead Role's First Experience" until the very end.
A. I would like to say a few words to the viewers. A. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your love for "I Stole the Lead Role's First Experience." I hope that everyone will enjoy watching it together with me every Wednesday and Thursday.
It was a lot of fun and I'm happy to have been able to spend time with Lee Bon. I will continue to work hard to bring you more good works like this in the future. I hope to see Bon and Seo until the TV series ends.
Once again, I would like to thank all the viewers who have supported and loved the Nchaek couple. Thank you very much."
