China's car fleet now stands at 359 million - Chinese report

According to the Ministry of Public Security, as of the end of June, China's total motorized vehicles totaled 460 million, of which 359 million were cars.
The number of people holding a driver's license for a motor vehicle was 550 million, of which 515 million held a driver's license for a car.
The number of newly registered motor vehicles in the first half of this year was 16.88 million. Of these, the number of newly registered automobiles was 12.5 million, up 0.68% from the same period last year.
The number of new license holders was 12.58 million. The number of new energy vehicles (NEVs) on the road was 36.89 million, accounting for 10.27% of the total number of cars. Of these, pure electric vehicles accounted for 25.53 million.
The number of newly registered NEVs in the first half of the year increased by 27.86% year-on-year to 5,622,000, a record high.
The number of new car registrations accounted for 44.97% of the total number of new car registrations. As of the end of June, the number of cities with car ownership exceeding 1 million had increased by five from the previous year to 101.
There were 45 cities with more than 10 million cars, and 27 cities with more than 3 million cars. Chengdu, Beijing, and Chongqing all had car ownership of over 6 million cars, while Suzhou, Zhengzhou, Shanghai, and Xinzheng were the top three.
The number of cheap (Seian) cars has exceeded 5 million.
