On the 15th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Cyber Investigation Unit announced that the civic group "Free Korea Defenders" had filed a complaint against Professor Tan for defamation by falsely stating facts.
The Free Korea Defence Force announced that it had received the report and started an investigation. Professor Tan spoke at a press conference hosted by the International Election Observation Mission at the National Press Building in Washington, D.C., in June.
The lawsuit claims that the president published false facts, such as, "President Lee was involved in the gang rape and murder of a girl when he was a child, and was therefore sent to a juvenile detention center, which meant he was unable to attend middle or high school."
Professor Tan, who had arrived in Korea the day before, was scheduled to give a special lecture sponsored by the conservative group "Truth Forum" at 5 p.m. that day at the Seoul National University Hoam Professors Hall.
However, the school revoked the permission to use the venue. In response, the group moved to a different location and held a meeting in front of the main gate of Seoul University at around 7 p.m. Professor Tan said in his speech at the meeting that Yoon Seo

Earlier, at a press conference held at the main gate of Seoul University, he condemned Morse Tan, saying, "Morse Tan has traveled between South Korea and the United States, repeatedly engaging in false incitement and political interference."
The group added, "He spread baseless conspiracy theories that the 2022 presidential election was rigged and targeted President Lee.
The group criticized the move as "spreading malicious and false allegations," and called the move "a subversive operation that seeks to damage the democratic order in Korean society and the reputation of the president, and to exploit the ROK-US alliance for far-right political purposes."
Professor Tan served as the Ambassador for International Criminal Justice at the State Department during the first term of the Trump administration, and has claimed that "China interfered in South Korea's fraudulent elections" and "President Lee was in a juvenile detention center as a child."
He has caused controversy in the past by claiming that the government was ``in violation of the Constitution.''
