A man stole an entire kiosk (automatic payment terminal) from an unmanned store and fled. On the 3rd, JTBC's "Case Leader" reported that a man had stolen an entire kiosk from an unmanned store in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.
The case of informant A, who claims to be the owner of a scream shop, and the CCTV footage were released. According to the footage, the man entered the shop alone around 2 a.m., and after checking the location of the CCTV,
Afterwards, he tapped the item with his hand, took out a tool and operated the terminal, then left the store as if he had given up, but later re-entered the store with the hammer.
The man tried to disassemble the terminal but failed, and eventually cut the wires and stole the terminal before leaving the store. The escaped man forced open the terminal and stole about 800,000 won in cash stored inside.
The man stole the smartphone (about 80,000 yen), threw the terminal in the grass nearby, and ran away. The process of the man's crime was clearly captured on the CCTV installed in the store.
During the course of the crime, the man cut the wires connecting the CCTV to the terminals, causing an electrical short, which then reached the wires of the freezer.
Mr. A said, "Even the electrical wires in the freezer were cut, and all the frozen foods stored inside, including ice cream, melted, so we had to throw them away."
Police were dispatched at around 7:00 a.m. on the same day in response to reports from residents, and Mr. A was able to confirm the facts of the crime.
A said, "I bought about 6.8 billion won worth of goods, including 3.8 million won (about 400,000 yen) for the terminal, 2 million won (about 210,000 yen) for waste from the freezer, and 800,000 won in cash from the terminal.
The man said he was injured in the attack and was charged with aggravated assault.
