In line with this trend, foreign companies are continuing to increase their willingness to invest in research and development, and the scale of their investment is also on the rise.
The number of R&D personnel at foreign-affiliated companies with R&D expenditures of 2015-101 billion yen or more rose 33.2% from 629,000 to 838,000.
During the same period, the number of valid invention patents for foreign-affiliated companies of a certain size or larger increased by 75,000 to 375,760 million formers (approximately 4 trillion yen).
The number of new products sold increased 336% from 4.5 trillion former to 7 trillion former, up from 4.5 trillion yen.
