Families of victims of Jeju Air Disaster request meeting with President Lee Jae Myung to ”find out the truth” - South Korea

The families of those killed in the Jeju Airlines disaster are calling for an investigation into the truth and have requested a meeting with President Lee Jae-myung.

The bereaved families said, "This is the biggest loss of life in the history of domestic aviation, but we need to thoroughly investigate the truth.
"The disaster was predicted 20 years ago when the hill was under construction, and Muan Airport, which was built in a migratory bird area, was not properly managed," he wrote.
The families wrote, "Jeju Air owns 39 planes of the same model as the one involved in the accident.
"We must thoroughly investigate the pilot's history and whether there was any negligence on the part of the pilot," he said. Finally, he requested a meeting with President Lee and said, "Until the truth is revealed, the pilot will not be able to leave Muan International Airport, which has been closed."
"I hope that the president will step in to protect the lives and safety of the people," he said. Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 departed from Bangkok, Thailand on the morning of December 29th last year.
At around 9:03 a.m., the plane attempted a belly landing at Muan International Airport, but collided with a hill-shaped concrete localizer and exploded. 179 of the 181 people on board died in the passenger plane accident.
