The Argentine Anti-Corruption Agency concluded that President Milei had not engaged in any illegal activities.
"The post on social media platform X on the 28th that mentioned LIBRA tokens was a personal expression of opinion and did not violate the ethical standards of public officials under Argentine federal law," the company said.
The court ruled that President Milley's LIBRA token communications were merely a reference to the token in his personal capacity and did not violate his duties as a public official.
The scandal was fueled by the collapse of the LIBRA cryptocurrency, whose market capitalization briefly hit $4 billion after Milley's comments, before plummeting by more than 94% within hours.
The scam was launched after it was accused of being a "pump and dump" type scam. In response, opposition lawmakers went on the offensive, even demanding the impeachment of President Milley. The estimated damages suffered by investors were about 251 million yen.
However, the Anti-Corruption Bureau said that no public assets or resources were used for the posts, and that Milley had been free to express his political and personal views through X since 2015.
The resolution emphasized that the account in question had been used as a window for personal and political expression since before the inauguration of the president, and is not considered an official account.
"As citizens, we can exercise our freedom of expression and political rights," he said. President Milley also maintains his position that he did not "advertise" LIBRA, but simply "shared" it.
Separate from the Anti-Corruption Bureau's findings, Argentina's Federal Criminal Court is still investigating President Mirell's possible involvement in LIBRA, according to reports.
He signed an executive order formally disbanding the task force that had been created to investigate the LIBRA scandal. To date, no public official, including President Milley, has been punished for any related charges.
However, some opposition lawmakers have strongly criticized the investigation, calling it a mere "formal investigation."
On May 20, Hagman made a strong accusation through X, saying, "There was never a serious investigation done in the first place. Everyone is just trying to cover up for each other."
