'Good Boy' starring actor Park BoGum departs with 4.8% for first episode

JTBC's new Saturday night drama 'Good Boy', starring actor Park Bo Gum, recorded viewership ratings in the 4% range for its first broadcast.

According to Nielsen Korea, a ratings research company, the first episode of the drama broadcast the previous day recorded a nationwide rating (based on paying households) of 4.8%. The previous drama in this slot, 'You're Beautiful in Heaven', starring Song Sook and Kim Hye-ja, departed with 5.8% and ended with the highest rating of 8.3%.

'Good Boy' is a comical action coming-of-age investigative drama about a former national team player who becomes a police officer as a special hire and wears his police ID around his neck in exchange for a medal to confront a world where dishonesty and foul play are rampant.

The cast includes Park Bo Gum as boxing gold medalist Officer Yoon Dong Joo, Kim So Hyun as shooting gold medalist Sergeant Ji Han Na, Lee Sang Yi as fencing silver medalist police officer Kim Jong Hyun, Ho Sung Tae as wrestling bronze medalist strong special team leader Ko Man Sik and Dae Won-seok as discus throw bronze medalist and police sergeant Shin Jae-heon.

In the first episode, the main characters were shown how they face the cold reality of life after being selected as police officers as special recruits for the national team.

The second episode of 'Good Boy' will air at 10:30 p.m. on June 1st.
