When asked about his thoughts on "concerns about political retaliation after the presidential election," he said,
"There is a need to distinguish between reconciliation and integration," said Lee. "The people do not want that to happen," he said, "and 'political retaliation' means harming someone for political reasons.
"The act of destroying the entire constitutional order of Korea, pointing guns at the people, virtually dissolving the National Assembly, and trying to set up a provisional legislative body is a historical and national act," he said.
"I think this is a targeted crime," he said, explaining, "and I don't think it's 'political' to turn a blind eye and overlook such a crime just because the other party is a political opponent."
He also said, "The public should not cover up all serious crimes committed by political opponents for the sake of 'politics', because it could lead to conflict."
