The poll was conducted by Korea Research, a public opinion research organization, at the request of KBS, for three days from the 20th to the 22nd, targeting 3,000 men and women aged 18 or older across Korea.
In response to the question, "If the presidential election were to be held tomorrow, who would you vote for?", Lee Jae-myung led with 49%, followed by Kim Moon-soo with 34%. Lee Jun-seok of the New Reform Party came in third with 8%.
Democratic Labor Party candidate Kwon Young-guk and independent candidate Hwang Kyo-ahn each recorded 1% support, while independent candidate Song Jin-ho had an approval rating of less than 1%. There is no candidate to vote for.
The percentage of people who answered "I don't know" or "I didn't answer" was 7%. 36% answered "We should give power to the ruling party candidate to recreate the government," while 10% answered "We should give power to the opposition party candidate to change the government."
In response to a question about unifying candidates Kim Moon-soo and Lee Jun-seok, 41% were in favor, 37% were against, and 21% were unsure.
If we were to assume that the two candidates were unified in favor of Kim Moon-soo, Lee Jae-myung would receive 48%, 9% more than Kim Moon-soo (39%). If we were to assume that the two candidates were unified in favor of Lee Jun-seok, Lee Jae-myung would receive 49% more.
Candidate Lee Jun-seok (46%) was 17% higher than candidate Lee Jun-seok (29%). In terms of party support, the Democratic Party of Korea came in at 43%, ahead of the People Power Party (33%), followed by the New Reform Party at 6% and the Fatherland Reform Party at 5%.
The poll was conducted by randomly selecting respondents by phone based on gender, age and region, with a response rate of 19.5%.
