Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung calls out prosecutors who indicted former President Moon Jae-in, saying, ”Are you crazy? You're creating a crime that doesn't exist” (South Korea)
On the 22nd, Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, visited Yangsan City, where former President Moon Jae-in's private residence is located, and met with the prosecutor who indicted President Moon on bribery charges.
In the afternoon of the same day, during a campaign rally at Water Park in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, Lee made a public remark that "the government should not give power to certain people."
The reason we do this is because we want all of us to live better lives. We want to enforce the rules we make, and use that enforcement power to make the world a fairer, more prosperous place to live together.
Candidate Lee said, "However, when I look at what the prosecution, which has the final authority to maintain order, has been doing recently, I cannot understand whether it is sane.
Intellectually, I understand that those who have committed crimes should be identified and severely punished. But why are they making such a fuss about creating crimes that don't exist?
"After indicting the president, we had to travel hundreds of kilometers back and forth to Seoul, and now he has to go to trial for two days and one night," he said.
"Or should I rent a house to stand trial in Seoul? Why would I do that? Or should I go to Seoul to get a house to stand trial in Seoul? Why would I go to Seoul to get a house to stand trial in Seoul ...
Candidate Lee emphasized, "I have been indicted in five places, which is quite a lot. A warrant is issued in one place.
However, it was split up, with one in Suwon, one in Seoul Part A, and one in Part B."
He continued, "What kind of mentality is that? Blindly prosecuting a case with no evidence. I really don't understand it."
criticized.
