On the 18th of this month, a post was made on social media saying, "Chinese people are smoking on Cheju Island. This is unbelievable."
Along with the post was a video taken on a bus in Jeju. In the video, the back of a woman sitting on the bus is seen sticking a lit cigarette out the window.
Smoke can also be seen rising from the bus. One male passenger commented, "Where are you smoking? We're on the bus right now," and "I wondered where the smell of cigarettes would come from, but that's impossible in this day and age.
"Please stop smoking," she protested. Meanwhile, a woman's voice sounded like she was speaking in Chinese. When the bus driver approached and warned her, "You can't smoke here," the female passenger had already left the bus.
The passenger had already thrown away his cigarette butt and closed the window. The passenger in question appeared to nod in agreement with what the driver said. According to the Jeju National Police Agency, the number of foreigners who have violated the Minor Crime Punishment Act on Jeju Island is
