Pastor Jeon Kwang Hyun of the First Church of Korea: ”I will run for president...I am the only one who can dismantle the High-ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Agency and the Election Management Committee” (South Korea)
Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon of Sarang First Church has announced his intention to run for the 21st presidential election.
At the April 19 Gwanghwamun Revolutionary National Rally, held in the Gwanghwamun area by the Liberal Unification Party and the National Movement for Reform of the Republic of Korea, he revealed that he was considering running for president.
On that day, Pastor Jeon said, "I am the only one who can carry out all of the following: disbanding the Agency for Investigation of Crimes by High-Ranking Public Officials and the Central Election Management Commission, liquidating the Constitutional Justices, and disbanding the Yeouido National Assembly."
He continued, "I'll show you what I'm capable of. If Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential primary candidate, can win, I'll win. I'll also win against the eight candidates of the People's Power Party.
"We will show our presence. We have also decided on the date for the party convention. We have reserved the largest gymnasium in Suwon," he said.
He also said, "Thanks to the successive Gwanghwamun rallies, the approval rating of former President Yoon Seok-yeol has risen significantly. The eight preliminary candidates of the People Power Party are showing no signs of this.
"Regarding the situation, the eight are determined to keep the president away from Gwanghwamun," he said. As for former President Yoon, he said, "I will invite him to join the Liberal United Party."
The pastor is currently under police investigation on suspicion of inciting civil unrest, and they are also investigating whether additional charges may be applied.
