Seoul Transportation Corporation employee sexually exploited job-hunting students...Police launch investigation = South Korea
Police have launched an investigation into a Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Corporation employee in his 30s who was a well-known mentor among job-hunting students after allegations were made that he sexually exploited them.
According to JTBC's "Case Leader," which aired on the 11th of this month, a job-hunting student in his early 30s named A, who had been working as a developer, was preparing to change jobs to a railway-related position.
Meanwhile, Ms. A learned about Mr. Baek, who is famous among job-hunting students. Mr. Baek introduced himself as an employee of the Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Corporation on his blog, and sent him a photo ID, exam ticket,
A received a form for personal information such as address. A submitted all the forms and applied for consultation with Mr. Baek. A said, "I was contacted by Fei Talk, but as soon as I received the contact, (Mr. Baek) said, '
"He started saying things that hurt my self-esteem, like, 'How old are you now?' and 'What are you going to do after you turn 30?'" Baek also said to A, "Shall I give you gentle advice? Shall I give you strength?
"Shall I do it?" Mr. A replied, "Please be strong," and he instructed him to "immediately take your cell phone and go to the bathroom." Then, something even more shocking happened. Suddenly, Mr. Baek
"Take off all your clothes except for your underwear and take a shower with cold water." Ms. A was confused, but she was determined to get a job so she followed Mr. Baek's instructions.
After Mr. A took a shower, Mr. Baek made Mr. A kneel down and raise his hands or do push-ups because he was unable to answer some questions properly.
He also forced her to lie face down. Mr. Baek was watching this on the screen. Shocked, Ms. A shared this fact in a group chat room with about 1,400 participants after the consultation.
A was not the only job-hunting student who was victimized. Some of the students were forced to send photos taken naked, without even underwear, on their knees.
Mr. A suffered this damage for a month, and even canceled his registration for the academy he had passed, saying that he wanted to work in the railway industry.
Baek declined to respond to inquiries from reporters. However, in a recorded conversation with the victims, Baek said, "I was the one who told them to shower wearing only underwear.
"It was not something that he asked me to do. I think he said he would do it," the Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Corporation said. "The employee reported the matter to the police after he was relieved of his duties," the company said.
"They will be fired and dismissed due to the above reasons."
