Hyundai Mobis to consolidate India R&D center into strategic base for software development - South Korean media

Hyundai Mobis, a parts manufacturer, announced that it has opened a software-focused research and development (R&D) center in Hyderabad, India.
The new facility will combine the company's two research facilities in India, one in 2007 and the other in 2020.
The company opened and operated the facility in 2013. With the number of software R&D personnel increasing over the past few years, the company built a large facility to consolidate research laboratories and maximize synergy effects.
The total floor area is approximately 24,000 square meters. The 10-story building includes research laboratories, a data center, a teaching room, business space for partner companies, and a break room.
The company opened a software R&D center in response to the rapid growth of the Indian automobile market, with new car sales in the country now reaching 5.2 million units, the third-largest in the world.
Annual sales are expected to grow to approximately 6.2 million units by 2028. To this end, the company plans to develop the R&D center into a strategic base for expanding orders worldwide.
Hyundai Mobis plans to increase the involvement of its Indian research center from the early stages of new product development and develop software for local models in-house. It will also introduce artificial intelligence (AI) to focus on improving productivity.
The R&D center will expand its scope of development by promoting the development of new products and services on a global scale.
