Seoul's Mapo district launches circular bus service, offering free rides to 17 tourist attractions and markets in one day (Korea)
Mapo-gu in Seoul has announced that it will begin operating the "Mapo Circular Train Bus" from May 1, connecting major tourist destinations and downtown areas.
The 16-seater bus features a steam locomotive and the cute mascots "Kebi" and "Kesuni."
The train emits a whistle sound along with steam while in operation. Information is provided at each stop in English, Chinese and Japanese, and subtitles and photos introducing nearby tourist attractions are also displayed.
The tour route starts from Seoul World Cup Stadium and goes through Haneul Park, Mapo Sevit Culture Forest, Mapo Yonggang Food Street, and other attractions.
There are 17 stops, including R1 (Walkable Street at Hongik University), Mangwon & World Cup Market, etc. You can get on and off at each stop to visit hidden gems in the alleys.
Another feature of this tour is that it takes you around 11 bustling shopping districts, including Ahyun Market, Red Road, and Seongsan Cultural Street.
It operates every 60 minutes between 9am and 10pm, 12th of the month, every Monday and Lunar New Year.
The service will be suspended on the Moon Seollal and mid-autumn celebrations. The admission fee is 5,500 won (about 554 yen) for adults, 3,500 won (about 352 yen) for teenagers, and 3,000 won (about 3,000 yen) for seniors and children.
