On the 20th, Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Seungshin Women's University shared a screen from Douban, a Chinese review website for films, dramas and books, through her SNS, saying, ‘’Otsukare-sama‘ is being plagued by illegal viewing in China’.
Professor Seo explained that ‘a review screen for “When Life Gives You Tangerines” has been created on Douban and currently there are about 30,000 reviews left’ and that ‘Netflix is not officially serviced in China’.
He added that "as was the case when Season 2 of Squid Game was released, 'thieving' has become commonplace in China" and criticised the fact that "there is no particular shame in it, which makes it even more difficult to open one's mouth."
He added that "so far in China, they have used the portrait rights of Hallyu stars appearing in K-content as they wish" and that "they have made and sold fake products to make their own profit structure, which has caused a huge uproar."
He continued, "Chinese netizens must have the heart to respect other countries" content instead of spreading the pushy claim that "Korea stole Chinese culture."
