Actor Park Bo Gum informed the birth of his character of a pure-hearted boy who was never seen before or after.
In the Netflix series ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’, which ranked first in the ‘Today's Top 10 in Korea’ series as soon as the first act was released on the 7th, Park Bo-gum takes on the role of Gwang-shik, a cast-iron man who goes about his business and exercise, no matter how hard it is, without wasting any words, and portrays a man with many dreams and a strong heart. He portrays a sad and beautiful love story with Ae-sun (IU), who has a lot of dreams and is a strong person.
Park Bo Gum thrilled viewers with a character they had never seen before. He portrayed Gwang-shik with a strong but not rough personality, a cautiousness in his words and sincerity in his actions, and the reckless courage to give up his life for the sake of only one other person. Park Bo-gum worked hard to assimilate into the character himself, from the change in his appearance to the expression of his inner self, and came close to becoming a perfect portrayal of Gwang-shik. As a result, the appearance of the young man Gwang-shik, the protagonist of pure love and the owner of youthful passion that he has protected over the past ten years, drew cheers and drew the viewers into the ‘spring’ of Jeju.
His emotional and passionate performance gives depth to the epic story of the young man Gwang-shik and Ae-sun. Park Bo-gum convincingly portrayed Gwang-shik's undeterred action at the decisive moment and his unconditional love for his beloved, who puts her first in any situation.
In the scene where he sadly chooses to go to the mainland in response to Ae-sun's parting notice that ‘I will only live when my brother is gone’, but chooses his own fate by going back to the violent waves, and in the scene where he resolutely sits with his back to his wife Ae-sun and daughter Geum-myung, embracing their loneliness in front of the food culture in an era when it was not allowed for men and women to be seated together, Gwang-shik showed his dependability. Park Bo Gum portrayed the characters in detail with a gaze that said more than hundreds of words and a strong voice that spoke no falsehoods.
The spring that opened like the blooming of two young people's first love is now over, and there is interest in what twists and turns Gwang-shik and Ae-sun will face in early summer. The Netflix series ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ will be released in its second act on 14 March on Netflix.
