故ハラさん(KARA)、「勇気ある女性でした」
The late Hara (KARA), the reporter in the ”BURNING SUN incident” reveals shocking truth... ”She was a courageous woman” who was an important ally in the investigation
It has been revealed that the late Hara, a member of the South Korean girl group KARA, was an important collaborator in the coverage of the Club Burning Sun case.

On the 20th (today), the BBC once again put the spotlight on the Burning Sun case by airing a documentary titled 'Burning Sun: the story of the woman who exposed the secret chat rooms of K-pop stars'.

The documentary focused on the sexual assault of singers Jung Joon Young and Choi Jung Hoon (ex-FTISLAND), the club Burning Sun case centred on V.I. (ex-BIGBANG) and the cozy relationship between them and the upper echelons of the police. Kang Kyung-yun, a reporter covering the case at the time, said, "Who on earth is this police person who comes up in that KakaoTalk group, that was an important key point. It was the most difficult question to solve and it was homework, but the appearance of Ms Ku Hara opened the door for us", he confessed.

Of Ms Hara, reporter Kang said "I still remember that day. 'Reporter, it's me, Hara. I really want to help you'. I was actually very grateful" and added, "Koo Hara and Choi Jung Hoon have been close friends since her debut, and I also knew Seungri (V.I.) and Jung Joon Young to some extent. He had seen them when they called each other on their mobile phones, as they were close friends. 'They, a lot of times, are really iffy. It was 'It's right because the reporter spoke to them'," he recalled.

Reporter Kang continued, "We were talking about such things as 'how can I help you'. In fact, I said that I wanted to know about the police, but I had no way to find out, could you help me with this part, and at the time Ms Ku Hara called Mr Choi Jung Hoon and asked him about that part on my behalf", and reported that she played an important role in covering the Burning Sun case.

Ms Hara's own brother, Koo Ho-in, also said, "My sister Hara has known Choi Jung-hoon since they were trainees, and they were close friends who spent a lot of time together. 'Jung Hoon, I will help you. Tell the reporter Kang Kyung-yun the facts you know,' I know that I persuaded her in this way. My sister was on the phone with Jung Hoon on speaker, and I was listening beside her'," he testified.

Reporter Kang then recorded the telephone conversation with Choi Jung-hoon and requested the identification of the 'police commissioner'. He said, "Choi Jung-hoon helped me to tell that the 'police commissioner' was not a fake, but a real police officer called Yoon Kyu-geun, who worked at Cheongwadae (Presidential Office), she was a courageous woman. She said to me, 'Wasn't I also a victim of revenge pornography? Ms Hara's ex-boyfriend Choi Jung-beom has been tried on suspicion of threatening, coercion, injury, damage to property, violation of the Special Law on Punishment of Sexual Assault Offences (filming using cameras and other means) and other offences."

Koo Ho-in said, "(Choi Jung-bum) threatened to end my life as a celebrity. My sister is aware that she became a singer, which was her dream, but she got down on her knees to ask him to stop because she was afraid of losing even this profession and people finding out about it" and informed her of her barbaric behaviour. "

Meanwhile, the late Hala passed away in November 2019.
