27 million people expected to use high-speed rail in Yangtze Triangle area during Labor Day holiday - Chinese report

China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. announced the proposed transportation plan for the 2024 Labor Day holiday on the 24th. The transportation period for this holiday will be a total of eight days from April 29th to May 6th.
The total number of passengers on the high-speed railways running through the area has exceeded 27 million, and the average daily passenger count is expected to exceed 3.4 million.
Since the beginning of this year, the number of high-speed rail passengers in the Yangtze Triangle area has been on the rise.
The number of passengers travelling increased by more than 20% compared to the same period last year. This year's Labor Day holiday is the second longest holiday in Japan after the Lunar New Year holiday, and the good weather during this period has made mid- to long-distance travel popular.
According to the distribution of high-speed rail passengers, the main pattern seems to be to depart on the two days before the holiday trains (April 29th and 30th) and return home on the last day (April 6th).
Beijing, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, and Qingdao are popular destinations. During the holiday transportation period, a total of 192.5 additional trains will be operated in the Yangtze River Delta area, of which 133 will be night trains.
