Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo on People Power: ”At least those who remain must unite” (South Korea)
On the 16th, Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo commented on the chaotic state of the People Power Party (ruling party) following its crushing defeat in the April 10 general election, saying, "Those who have to go should be sent back without any regrets.
Those who remain must unite. Tomorrow the sun will rise again," he said. Mayor Hong wrote on his Facebook page that day, "We have reached rock bottom and we are licking our wounds.
"You have to know that there are basements, but there are also basements. The art of war is to cut the flesh to break the bone. You can't win a battle without giving up what's yours."
He continued, "Since liberation, Korean politics has been consistent in confrontational politics, and in order to survive in that environment, one must survive even while suffering through endless battles.
"The Democratic Party (DP) are people who are used to this world, but the People Power Party are busy with their own lives and have continued to survive in a cowardly manner by protecting themselves," he said.
He added, "That time is over. Only the warriors will survive."
