歌手IU(アイユー)、「BTS」Vとコラボした新曲にLGBTたちが怒り1
LGBT people are angry over singer IU's new song in collaboration with BTS's V...Why on earth?
While singer IU released the main poster for her new song "Love Wins" featuring V from the Korean boy group BTS, LGBT (sexual minority) voices criticized the song's title.

On the 16th, IU's agency EDAM Entertainment released a preview poster featuring V and IU sitting across from each other through their official SNS.

When this news was released, there were complaints from the LGBT community. The part in question was the title of their new song, "Love Wins. It was pointed out that if this message, which has been used as a rallying cry in their marches and other events, were used in general love (heterosexual) content, the existing meaning could be faded."

The phrase "Love Wins" was an idiom used by LGBTs in hashtags and elsewhere at the time the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage on June 26, 2015. Since then, it was also used in support of them during the 2016 shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, USA. The message has been known to be used sustainably in multinational queer parades and other events since then.

On the day of the event, X (formerly Twitter) was followed by critical responses such as, "You can't use a shout-out shouted at a site of oppression and discrimination in this way," "If you have something to say, express it in your own words," and "Love in general has always won, so why bring up 'love wins' and stick with it?"

Furthermore, a number of people have said that such criticism may be excessive. The counterargument is that since there are already several songs with the same name, "Love Wins," this message is also an idiom that speaks of the universal power of love over hate and hatred.

Some netizens were also wary of the outlandish criticism, asking, "Does it always symbolize love just because a man and a woman are in one picture?" and "It could be that V comes out dressed as a woman. Also, in the current uproar, he asked, "What's the difference between this and the claim that reggae heads are a symbol of black people who were discriminated against, so other races shouldn't do it?" They also defended the song, saying, "It's not exclusive to LGBT people, even though it's a biblical phrase."

Meanwhile, IU's pre-release song "Love Wins" will be released on the 24th of this month at 6 p.m. through major music websites. This is her first new song release in almost two years and one month since "Sculpture Collection," which was released in December 2021.
