Seoul builds Copenhagen-style 'floating pool' on Han River
A 'floating pool' that will be installed on the river will be created in Icheon Hangang Park in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. A complex marina facility with mooring facilities for ships, a performance hall, and an exhibition space will also be built, allowing citizens to enjoy various water leisure activities on the Han River throughout the year.

Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, visited the 'Harbor bath', a seawater pool in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 19th (local time), allowing citizens to swim safely on the Han River. It announced on the 21st that it will create a floating pool that can be enjoyed.

The 'floating pool' built on the Han River is a complex space where you can enjoy not only water leisure but also culture and art throughout the year. Approximately 30 billion won will be invested in Artpia, which will include cultural and art facilities where visitors can enjoy exhibitions and performances throughout the year, water leisure equipment, and mooring facilities for ships.

The Mayor said, "The pool is the most effective and appropriate way to achieve the goal of creating many spaces where families can enjoy together."

The city of Seoul will conduct a basic plan and feasibility study this year, planning to start construction as early as 2025 and open in 2026. In addition, starting with 'Ichon Hangang Artpia', the plan is to gradually expand marina facilities such as floating pools, yachts, paddle boards, and water skis in other parts of the Hangang to make them tourist attractions.
