Doctor circulates endoscopy photos of 97 patients in chat room = South Korea
An internist at a health screening center in Seoul has been put on trial for taking endoscopic pictures of patients and distributing them in group chat rooms.

According to the police and the prosecutor's office on the 20th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office held a trial against doctor A (52), who was indicted on suspicion of violating the Personal Information Protection Act.

Defendant A was in charge of endoscopy at a health checkup center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul in April 2021, and at a health checkup center in Gangnam-gu from 2021 to February 2022. A computer screen containing a person's personal information was photographed with a mobile phone.

Defendant A, who was the operator of the chat room, posted the photo on a KakaoTalk group chat room with about 70 members of the art club, and sent the patient's real name, test items, and date.

Defendant A sent such a photo saying, "I had a lot of tests today," and "It was hard," and some people in the chat room reportedly replied, "It looks like an apple box."

Defendant A describes himself as a "doctor who spends most of his time at art museums next to his doctor's office," and is said to have published art-related books and given lectures.

Defendant A's crime was revealed in June last year when a member of this art club filed a complaint.

The Gangnam Police Station, which investigated the incident, sent Defendant A around August last year.
