"Whilst knowing of Yu A In's addiction, the doctor prescribed propofol" = South Korea
A doctor who prescribed propofol to popular Korean actor Yu A In (37, real name Uhm Hong-sik) was arrested on suspicion of illegally administering propofol, and an arrest warrant was requested, but was dismissed by the court.

In the midst of this, Choi Jin-mook, director of the Incheon Daluk Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Center, said on the 17th on CBS radio 'Park Jae-heon's best game', “Whist knowing of Yu's addiction, the doctor prescribed propofol."

According to MBC reports, regarding Yu's illegal use of propofol, the director of the hospital that Yu visited warned him, "Don't use excessive sleep anesthesia" and "Don't rush to the hospital."

In response to this, Choi said, "Going around to other hospitals is dangerous, so can you only come to my hospital."

"Patients don't think it's drugs because doctors prescribe them," he said.

Regarding the current reality of propofol addiction, Choi said, "When I see it in the field, when the director in charge of consultation at the dermatology department and plastic surgery department comes to the hospital in the morning, he sends a message to an acquaintance who is addicted, 'The bed is vacant today.' I will send you a bed and run a business," he said.

He also said, "The drug addict's problem is clearly the person himself. (The person himself) starts to feel it. But if he reveals it, he will become a criminal, so he can't. That's it," he said.

Choi said that he himself was a drug addict for 23 to 24 years, and that he was able to stop taking drugs after consulting with a doctor who wrote a column he read in prison.

He said, "Though the problem of drug addiction is considered to be only physical abstinence, what is bigger than that is psychological dependence. Unless they create a foundation for living in society again, there will be no choice but to repeat it."

On the other hand, the Seoul National Police Agency's Narcotics Investigation Unit, which was investigating the case of Yu A In, was conducting a search of a hospital in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on March 13th. During the search, a doctor named Shin himself administered propofol. They witnessed it and he was caught red-handed.

Police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. Shin on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act the next day, 14th, but the court did not accept it.

Judge Yoo Chang-hoon, the head of the Seoul Central District Warrant, said, "The suspect admitted his mistake, secured related evidence, and confirmed his residence, occupation, and interrogation results. In light of this, it is difficult to think that there is concern about the destruction of evidence or escape."

The police also plan to summon Yu, who is suspected of drug use, as a suspect within the next week.

Last month, the police took over the test results from the National Institute of Scientific Investigation that Yu's hair and urine tested positive not only for propofol, but also for four other drugs, including cannabis, cocaine, and ketamine.

After that, in order to secure additional evidence, Yu's house in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul and Itaewon-dong, which is the address on the resident registration, and the hospitals in the Yongsan District area of Gangnam, which are suspected to have prescribed Yu the propofol were searched.
