Memphis Zoo giant panda 'Le Le' died of 'cardiac lesion'

As a result of the autopsy, no intestinal torsion, rupture of the aorta, rupture of the liver abscess, or heavy bleeding, which are common causes of sudden death in animals, was confirmed. On they found a heart lesion and made a rudimentary judgment that this was the cause of death of "Le Le". However, further confirmation of pathological examination results is required.

A team of Chinese experts also checked the health status of another giant panda at the zoo, "Ya Ya", at the site, examining health check reports and monthly health records.

"丫丫 (Ya Ya)" had an appetite and a stable weight, but hair loss due to a skin disease was observed. The Chinese side discussed with the Memphis Zoo about the abnormal condition of the fur of "Ya Ya", and made suggestions and requests to the US side regarding breeding and nursing.

At present, the Chinese side is proceeding with the relevant procedures so that "Ya Ya" can return to the country as soon as possible.
