According to South Korea's National Police Agency, as a result of the police's special crackdown on drugs from August to December last year, the number of foreigners involved in drug-related crimes increased from 596 in 2018 (7.4% of all drug-related crimes) to 7.4% last year. increased to 1757 (14.2%). Of these, 866 foreign drug offenders were arrested, and by country, Thais accounted for the highest percentage at 40.9%.

An official at the public prosecutor's office said, "The influx of Thais has led to an increase in drug-related crimes," adding, "We are monitoring related materials."

Thailand is more tolerant of drugs than South Korea, legalizing cannabis in June last year. It is also reported that some places sell cannabis to Korean tourists.
