PM Han instructs to prepare for cold weather "Preliminary inspection of U-turn traffic safety" = Korea
In South Korea, it is predicted that the strongest winter cold wave will arrive at the end of the Lunar New Year holidays, so Prime Minister Han Duk-soo instructed related ministries and agencies on January 23rd to prepare in advance, such as U-turn traffic safety inspections.

On the same day, Prime Minister Han said, "The Minister of Public Administration and Safety and the Minister of Land and Infrastructure will inspect infrastructure facilities such as railways and construction sections in advance for accident-vulnerable points in order to ensure U-turn traffic safety. We ask that you do your best to take preventative measures, such as spraying snow removal agents on dangerous areas such as bridges, elevated roads, tunnel entrances, etc."

In addition, the Minister of Public Administration and Safety, the Minister of Welfare, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Food, the Director of the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, and the heads of local governments requested that they prepare for facility damage, such as freezing and bursting of water pipes and weighing machines, and cold weather damage to crops. In particular, he stressed the need to check the fire prevention of vulnerable facilities such as Gosiwon and the safety of vulnerable groups such as the homeless and the elderly.

Prime Minister Han said, "Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Director of the National Maritime Police Agency and heads of local governments should take all possible measures to ensure the safety of passenger ships as strong winds are expected. We request that weather information, roads, passenger ships, and aircraft control status be provided in a timely manner using disaster alerts, etc., and guided so that the public can return home safely."

Prime Minister Han also emphasized to the Ministry of Public Administration and Safety, which is the Ministry of Disaster Safety and General Affairs, to inspect the current status of management of related ministries and local governments and ensure that there are no gaps in preliminary inspections.

From 9:00 pm on January 23rd, the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a cold weather warning for most of the country, including Seoul. On the 24th, the last day of the Lunar New Year holidays, the whole country will be below zero throughout the day, and it is expected to be the coldest weather this winter. Heavy snow is also expected in Honam and Jeju from the morning to the afternoon of the 24th.
