China, Man 'bragging' about 'smoking' on train on SNS... arrested = Chinese coverage
In China, a man was arrested after taking a picture of himself holding a cigarette in a toilet on a high-speed train and posting it on social media.

Man A wrote on his SNS, "I will never take the high-speed train again. I have to go to the bathroom to smoke." Along with this, he posted a selfie of himself holding a cigarette in what appeared to be a toilet on the train.

Internet users who saw this pointed out that A's act was illegal and reported it to the railway police.

Upon receiving the report, the police launched an investigation and found that A was on the high-speed train from Zhengzhou East Station to Handan East Station on December 9th, 2022. On December 11th, the police summoned A to the local police box and interrogated him.

In response to the police investigation, A admitted to posting the photos taken on the train but stated that he did not actually smoke.

By taking a picture of him smoking in the toilet on the train, he wanted to show off that he could do something like this. A said, "I thought that if I didn't actually smoke, I wouldn't be punished."

Even if A was just holding a cigarette on the train and did not smoke, the police determined that posting the photo on social media itself was an "act that had a negative impact on society," and that A was suspended for five days.
