"If war breaks out, impossible to escape from Seoul"... "Everything will be over before we know about war" =British media
Christian Davis, head of the Seoul bureau of the Financial Times (FT), a British financial newspaper, was named a Hot Topic for writing a column titled "In the event of war on the Korean Peninsula, the probability of my survival is close to 0%." It's becoming As North Korea's provocations continue, even foreigners living in South Korea seem to be worried about how to deal with unforeseen circumstances.

In a column titled "Lessons for Preparing for War on the Korean Peninsula," Davis shared a recent exchange with a Western diplomat on January 16th (local time).

When Mr. Davis asked, "What are your preparations for evacuating your people in the event of a conflict on the Korean Peninsula?" the diplomat reportedly replied, "Don't worry."

The diplomat said, "The firepower of each enemy (South and North Korea) is so strong and the distance between them is so close that it will all be over before you know it has begun."

Mr. Davis said, "It turns out that my chances of survival (if there is a war on the Korean Peninsula) are a little higher than 0%."

"Russia's all-out invasion of Ukraine has made governments and businesses realize the need to plan for what could happen in Taiwan and South Korea," Davis said.

He continued, "Employees working in Seoul were instructed by their home country companies to prepare emergency bags at home containing various items such as water, non-perishable food, cash, igniters, and satellite phones. Many foreign companies have elaborate evacuation plans to withdraw their personnel from the Korean Peninsula if necessary, including plans to converge at ports to board ships bound for China or Japan."

But Mr. Davis said, "As anyone who has tried to leave Seoul on a regular public holiday knows, in wartime conditions, there is little chance of getting out of Seoul. Hide in subways, underground car parks or one of the emergency shelters in various parts of the city."

He also said, "Since tense scenes are commonplace on the Korean Peninsula, when do you judge a 'crisis'? At what stage are you preparing for war in a crisis? If war is imminent, at what point do you There are issues such as whether to decide to escape at that point in time."
