Woman smoking in non-smoking area and kicked elderly civil servant, sentence to prison = Korea
In South Korea, a woman in her 20s was sentenced to prison in the first trial for assaulting a 70-year-old ward office official who was cracking down on smoking.

On the 17th, Judge Jeong Hye-won, a detective 14 at the Northern District Court of Seoul, said, Defendant A, a woman in her 20s, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison after being arrested and indicted on suspicion of assaulting an elderly civil servant who was cracking down on smoking in a non-smoking area (injury and obstruction of official duties).

Judge Jeong revealed the reason for the sentencing, saying, "The crime was of a bad nature, and the victim wanted punishment."

In September last year, A smoked in a non-smoking area near Suyu Station on Subway Line 4 and kicked a civil servant in his 70s belonging to the Gangbuk-gu Office who was cracking down on smoking. She was investigated on suspicion of hitting the head. Meanwhile, in October of the same year, she was put on trial on suspicion of blocking the path of a passing car at the Gangbuk-gu Office intersection, kicking it with her foot, spitting on the driver who got out of the car, and assaulting him.

At that time, a video of Defendant A assaulting the public official in question spread online, causing public outrage. In the video, Defendant A hit an elderly civil servant several times with her knees and feet, and the civil servant was unilaterally assaulted.
