Japan-U.S. Summit Meeting "Japan-U.S.-ROK Trilateral Cooperation toward Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula"
U.S. President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida said at their summit that they "reaffirmed our commitment to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."

In a joint statement announced by President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida after a summit meeting at the White House in Washington, D.C. on January 13th (local time), "We will further strengthen trilateral cooperation between Japan, the United States, and South Korea in security and the economy."

"The Indo-Pacific faces an increasing number of provocations, from China's actions contrary to the international order to North Korea's provocations," the two leaders said. They went on to mention "We reaffirmed our commitment and pledged to strengthen important trilateral cooperation between Japan, the United States, and South Korea in security and other areas."

The two leaders also mentioned Russia's aggression against Ukraine and stated, "We strongly oppose attempts to change the status quo by force and coercion in the world."

Regarding the Taiwan issue, they said, "Our basic position on Taiwan remains unchanged," and added, "It is important to maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait."
