"Electricity shortage" Philippines asks South Korea for "nuclear power cooperation"
The Philippines once again requested the South Korean government's cooperation in the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant construction restart project. The Philippines, which is highly dependent on thermal power generation, is expected to face major difficulties in power supply and demand next year.

According to South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Jeong Yong-gil, head of the Energy Industry Office, met in Seoul on December 7th with Mark Cohuangko, chairman of the Philippine Nuclear Energy Special Committee, to discuss nuclear power cooperation plans.

Chairman Cojuangko said, "The Philippines is promoting policies to strengthen the role of nuclear power in response to climate change and the energy crisis. We need the cooperation of the other side," he said.

"Korea is also promoting a realistic and harmonious energy mix through the normalization of its nuclear power policy and the rational spread of renewable energy,” Jeong said. It's the perfect partner," he said.

Jeong and Ko Hwanko also agreed on the need to expand communication between the public and private sectors regarding the Bataan nuclear power plant.

The Philippines is facing chronic power shortages, and President Ferdinand Marcos Benjamin Lees is promoting the operation of nuclear power plants to solve such problems.
