<Itaewon accident> Seoul police commissioner returns home after 10-hour interrogation as suspect = Korea
Kim Kwang-ho (58) Seoul Police Commissioner attended the Police Special Investigation Headquarters as a suspect on December 2nd and returned home after being interrogated for 10 hours.

At around 8 p.m. that day, after the interrogation was over, Kim told reporters, "I did not hide anything and was sincere in the investigation." After receiving inspection materials from the National Police Agency's special inspection team, the headquarters filed a case against Kim on suspicion of professional negligence resulting in death and injury the day before.

The headquarters asked Kim about when the Itaewon accident was first recognized and reported, how he responded immediately after the accident, and why riot police were not deployed to Itaewon.

On the same day, the headquarters reportedly summoned Lee (75), the CEO of the Hamilton Hotel, as a suspect and interrogated him for about 10 hours and 30 minutes.

Lee is suspected of illegally building a hotel next to the alley where the accident occurred and increasing the number of casualties. Earlier last month, the police filed a case against Lee on suspicion of constructing an illegal structure near the main building of the Hamilton Hotel and occupying the road without permission (violating the building and road laws).

Police are also investigating whether Lee had collusion with government officials at the Yongsan-gu Office and other government agencies during his long history of maintaining illegal structures. After being investigated, Lee repeatedly emphasized that there was no such thing as alleged collusion.

The headquarters plans to review the testimonies of Kim and Lee and re-summon them if necessary.
