Million euros worth of ancient gold coins stolen from German museum
The British newspaper Guardian reported that 450 ancient gold coins worth millions of euros were stolen from an ancient history museum in Bavaria, Germany, on November 22nd (local time).

These gold coins, which were used by ancient Celtic tribes around the 3rd century BC, were discovered in 1999 during the excavation process of an ancient village in the area.

Prior to committing the robbery, the thieves reportedly paralyzed communications throughout the city to prevent the museum from reporting. Mayor Herbert Nave explained the situation at the time, saying, "The museum is a place of thorough security, but the police could not be contacted at all."

They then smashed the showcase and stole 4 kilograms worth of gold coins. Details of how the thieves planned the robbery and exactly how much the stolen gold coins were worth are not known. Local police have launched an investigation, including looking for witnesses.

The Minister of Science and Arts of Bavaria said, "The stolen gold coins are irreplaceable proof of German history", and "Losing Celtic treasures is like a disaster."
