Seoul permits screens for WC viewing at Gwanghwamun Square with conditions= Korea
Screens to watch the 2022 Qatar World Cup will be installed at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.

The city of Seoul approved the application for the use of Gwanghwamun Square submitted by the Red Devil Cheerleading Group after deliberation by the Gwanghwamun Square Advisory Group on November 22nd but with conditions.

As a result, it can be used from November 23rd to December 3rd.

However, conditions such as securing a safe distance during night hours, smooth flow control, prompt response to emergency situations, and compliance with the results of the advisory group have been added.

The Red Devils are planning to cheer on the streets of Gwanghwamun Square on November 24th and 28th, and December 2nd, when the Korean national soccer team's World Cup first league matches are scheduled.

On November 17th, Red Devil submitted an application for the use of Gwanghwamun Square to the city of Seoul.

A draft safety management plan was also submitted to Jongno-gu, the jurisdiction office, and it was deliberated on the 21st. However, after receiving criticism that the countermeasures were inadequate, the related content was supplemented and reissued this morning.

Looking at the supplemented plan, the Red Devil side increased the number of safety management personnel from the previous 150 to 340.

The main stage, which was planned to be placed in front of the statue of King Sejong, was moved to Yukjo Square behind the statue.

Additional large screens were placed around the plaza so that the crowds could be spread over a wider space.

The number of participants expected by the Red Devils is 8,000 on November 24th and 28th, and 10,000 on December 2nd.

The city of Seoul also plans to operate a general situation room for the street cheering match.

The Sejong Center for the Performing Arts bus stop, which is closest to Gwanghwamun Square, will also be temporarily closed until the end of this event. Buses passing through the stop will also pass without stopping. Gwanghwamun Station on Subway Line 5 is also planning to take measures to allow non-stop vehicles if necessary, considering the level of congestion at the platform.

Red Devil Chairman Lee Joon-geun said, "We are asking for the cooperation of the police and others to install additional electric (supply) vehicles and secure lanes. We are also promoting the plan to use it."

The Korean national team will play its first match against Uruguay at 10:00 pm on November 24th.

They will face Ghana from 10:00 pm on November 28th and Portugal from 0:00 am on December 3rd.
