According to the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) on November 17th, Hyundai and Kia sold a total of 82,059 units in Europe last month, down 4.9% from the previous year.
Specifically, Hyundai Motor sold 39,646 units and Kia 42,413 units during the same period, down 8.9% and 0.9%, respectively.
Last month, the European market totalled 910,753 units, an increase of 14.1% over the previous year.
Hyundai Motor and Kia's European market share also fell to 9.0%, down 1.8 percentage points year-on-year.
Popular models in the European market were Sportage (Kia) with 11,738 units, followed by △ Seed (Kia) with 10,121 units, △ Tucson (Hyundai Motor) with 9,163 units, △ Kona (Hyundai Motor) with 6782 units, △ Niro (Hyundai Motor) with 5965 units.
Sales of electric vehicles also declined. Hyundai and Kia sold 9,526 electric vehicles in the European market, down 33.5% year-on-year. Kona Electric recorded 2,779, Ionic 5 2,384, Niro EV 2,162, and EV6 1,811.
However, the cumulative sales volume of electric vehicles from January to October was 119,153 units, an increase of 13.6% from the previous year.
Hyundai Motor and Kia's cumulative sales as of October this year reached 903,336 units, up 5.4% year-on-year.
