North Korea ambassador to UN "U.S.-South Korea exercise is dangerous act that ignites the fuse of war"

North Korea's ambassador to the United Nations, Kim Song, said in a speech at the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 26th (local time), "The United States is still in a very serious situation around the Korean Peninsula. "They are carrying out joint maritime exercises that raise serious concerns," he said.

Ambassador Kim reaffirmed his stance, saying, "North Korea has developed and deployed nuclear weapons because of the US' hostile policy."

After mentioning that North Korea recently enacted a "nuclear force policy" that officially made a pre-emptive response to tactical nuclear weapons, Ambassador Kim said, "For the past 30 years, the U.S.'s devious hostile policy has created today's reality. Ambassador Kim also strongly opposed the move by the United Nations to impose sanctions on North Korea's continued development of weapons of mass destruction.

Unlike last year, when Ambassador Kim showed a conciliatory attitude, he consistently took a firm tone toward the United States in his speech this year.
