U.S. Senator "Inflation Reduction Law Must be Applied with Maximum Flexibility" Appeals to Treasury Secretary "Concerns about Damage to Hyundai Motors and Others"
A US Senator urged the federal government to "exercise maximum flexibility in enforcing the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to reduce damage to Hyundai Motor and others."

Senator Raphael Warnock sent a letter to US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on September 25th (local time) saying, We asked for flexible enforcement of the law." Rep. Warnock, a member of the ruling "Democratic" party, voted in favor of Georgia in the IRA's verdict process.

Warnock wrote in his letter that he urged "maximum flexibility in the implementation of the IRA to ensure that Georgian automakers benefit from maximum subsidies."

In particular, Senator Warnock said, "If the federal government pursues an IRA, it will put a heavy burden on manufacturers, making it difficult to achieve its original purpose. This could harm and hinder manufacturers from investing in EVs in the U.S., which could end up hurting workers and consumers in Georgia."

Prior to this, Rep. Buddy Carter (Republican), a member of the US House of Representatives Energy and Trade Committee, said in an interview with South Korean news agency Yonhap News on 23rd (local time), "Joe Biden, the US government. Excluding South Korean automakers in the IRA was a huge mistake and a violation of the US-Korea Free Trade Agreement," he said, adding, "It's time for Congressman Warnock, whose constituency is Georgia, to stand up and take action."
