South Korean prosecutor seeks life imprisonment for 2 defendants in 'Gapyeong Valley Murder Cas'
The prosecution has requested life imprisonment for Lee Eun-hae (31), and Cho Hyun-soo (30), who were on trial in the South Korean Gapyeong Valley Murder Case.

The Incheon District Public Prosecutor's Office demanded life imprisonment for each of Lee and Cho at the final trial held at the Incheon District Court on September 30th. He also requested an order to wear electronic ankles for 20 years. The two have been charged with murder and attempted murder.

The prosecution revealed the reason of the sentence, saying "The accused committed the brutal crime for the victim's life insurance money. They admitted it during the prosecution's first investigation, but overturned their statements, denied the crime in its entirety, and defamed the victim's reputation. The quality of the crime is extremely poor."

A defense attorney for the defendant argued, "From the beginning, there was no strong evidence to prove the charges, and the prosecution was indicted due to public opinion and circumstances."

Continued, "During the trial, there was no direct evidence of blowfish poisoning, crimes in fishing ponds, or gaslighting. He was free to insult his character, and I hope the court will acquit him and correct all wrongs."

In his final statement, Lee said, "Respected judge, it is true that I made a mistake, but I did not plan to kill Oppa (a term used for older men/victims) and collect insurance money."

"Like the facts in the appeal, it is not true that I planned to kill my brother (the victim) for insurance money," Cho said.

The two will be sentenced at the Incheon District Court on October 27th at 2:00 pm.
