3m large jellyfish haunts beach... 39 people stung = Busan, Korea
A summer vacationer was stung by a jellyfish while visiting a beach to avoid the extreme heat.

According to the Imran Beach Water Rescue Team in Gijang County, Busan, South Korea on August 8th, a maximum of 3 meters (including tentacles) was found off the coast of Imran Beach at 8:30 am on 6th. More than 50 Echizen jellyfish that reach the size of the tree appeared. Of these, more than 20 were found to be adult-sized.

39 summer vacationers who visited the beach that day were stung by jellyfish and received first-aid treatment at the scene, including salt water.

Water rescuers will scoop out the jellyfish with nets, and the removed jellyfish will be disposed of.

According to the Busan Fire and Disaster Prevention Headquarters, there have been 257 jellyfish stings at seven beaches in the Busan area this year, up from 168 last year.

From July 27th, warning levels for the jellyfish have been issued for the waters of Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gangwon.

Echizen jellyfish, the largest type of jellyfish, is a large jellyfish that grows off the coast of China and drifts to South Korea with ocean currents, and is found at beaches every summer.

Experts believe that climate change has created ideal conditions for jellyfish due to rising water temperatures, which is why jellyfish are appearing more frequently.
