Japan-South Korea leaders "first meeting" in Madrid, Japan-South Korea relations "future-oriented"
President Yoon Seok-you, who is visiting Spain, Madrid to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, met with Prime Minister Kishida on the 28th (local time) and exchanged opinions on "improving Japan-South Korea relations."

According to the Korean Presidential Office, President Yoon met with Prime Minister Kishida at the NATO summit welcome gala, presided over by King Felipe VI of Spain. Although they are not from countries that are NATO members, they were invited to attend this dinner party as Asia-Pacific partner countries.

According to the Korean media "EDAILY," Prime Minister Kishida spoke to President Yoon first at a banquet to congratulate President Yin on his inauguration and victory in the local elections. In this way, the dialogue between the two leaders started.

President Yoon said, "I hope Prime Minister Kishida will have a good result in the Upper House election (next month). Once the House of Councilors election is over, I and the staff are thinking of continuing to resolve the concerns between Japan and South Korea and move forward in a future-oriented manner."

Prime Minister Kishida expressed his gratitude and said, "I know that President Yoon is making efforts for Japan-South Korea relations. I too will strive to develop a healthier relationship between Japan and South Korea. Let's do it."

The two leaders, who had a short conversation of about 3 to 4 minutes, decided to talk more deeply at the Japan-US-Korea summit meeting to be held on the 29th.
