A reporter covering a woman assault in Tangshan, China is detained by police
A reporter who tried to cover the assault on a woman in Tangshan, Hebei Province, China, was found to have been detained by police for eight hours.

According to Chinese media, the detainee was a reporter at the Guizhou Widespread Observatory. When he was interviewing the restaurant where the incident occurred, the store manager reported to the police. The reporter was taken to the police, but the reason was not revealed, and the police officer repeatedly said, "Cooperate with the investigation."

Police officers then took turns holding the reporter to the ground and confiscating his ID and personal belongings. He also asked to show the chat records left on his cell phone. The reporter was released eight hours later, but no official documents regarding the investigation were provided.

In Tangshan City, on June 10th, a man grabbed a female customer's hair, dragged her out of the store, beat her, and kicked her.

Regarding this reporter's restraint, Internet users have responded that "I can't easily go to Hebei anymore" and "No wonder there is no (incident) coverage."
