"Chinese military officials have repeatedly communicated such claims to the U.S. government," the Bloomberg news agency quoted from sources familiar with relevant information.
"China has usually rebelled against U.S. military activity in the Taiwan Strait, but so far the theme has not been periodically discussed at talks between U.S. and Chinese military officials," Bloomberg said.
However, "it is unclear whether China's rising level of remarks means 'China will take further measures against foreign ships entering the Taiwan Strait.'"
The United States and China have also clashed on the Taiwan issue at the Asian Security Conference (Shangri-La Meeting) held in Singapore.
