U.S. reporter detained by China in 2020 released ... Still unreachable
Bloomberg, a US media outlet, revealed on June 14th that the company's Beijing correspondent Hayes Huang, who had been detained in China, was released in January this year.

Bloomberg posted a message on Twitter, announcing that the Chinese embassy in the United States had informed him of Huang's release. However, he says he has not been able contact Huang since.

Huang disappeared in December 2020 after being witnessed being taken from his home by several plainclothes police officers. Then, in July 2021, the Chinese government announced that he had been sentenced to "a crime that threatened national security."

Huang is a Chinese national. After working for media outlets such as Reuters, CNBC, Al Jazeera and CBS, he became a Bloomberg reporter in 2017.
