WHO Secretary-General Tedros says "They can't continue" China's "Zero Corona policy"
The World Health Organization (WHO) Secretary-General Tedros said regarding response to the Chinese government's "Zero Corona Policy", that "the policy cannot be continued."

At a press conference on May 10th, Secretary-General Tedros said, "I don't think we can continue to do this with regard to the'Zero Corona Policy', given the current and expected future conditions. The conversion (of measures) is very important."

In addition, Michael Ryan, who oversees emergency response at WHO, said, "It is a phase where new policies should be launched. (Future) COVID-19 measures should respect individuals and human rights, and society. It should be balanced with the impact on the economy."

"We can't stop the worldwide spread of the COVID-19 virus infection, it's important to minimize the infection," said Maria Van Kerkhove, a WHO expert. "Our goal is not locating all infected people and blocking all routes of infection. That's not possible in the current situation", she stressed.
